FORMATION OF NATIONAL SECURITY POLICY OF R. NIXON’S ADMINISTRATION IN THE CONTEXT OF SEPARATE GOVERNMENT (1973–1974)

The article deals with the influence of divided government on the development of Richard Nixon’s national security policy in the US Congress in the period of the Watergate crisis. The analysis indicates that the relations between the 37th president’s administration and the legislative branch, controlled by the Democrats, had distinct conflict nature. Consequently the whole series of the Republican administration’s programs were reduced essentially or collapsed.
